The mission of the Alabama State Council on the Arts is to enhance the quality of life and economic vitality for all Alabamians by providing support for the state’s diverse and rich artistic resources.
The Alabama State Council on the Arts prioritizes funding for proposals that align with its Blueprint for Supporting the Arts. These priorities include supporting excellence and professionalism in the arts, providing opportunities for high-quality arts education for all Alabama students and lifelong learners, making the arts accessible to all Alabamians, preserving and presenting folk art traditions, promoting diverse cultural artistic expressions, recognizing the arts as a driver of economic vitality, and increasing public recognition for the arts, organizations, and artists. Curriculum-Based Project Grants specifically focus on educational programming with sequential learning for PreK-12 students, related to an organized curriculum and encourage applicants to connect with the Artistic Literacy Consortium (ALC) Collaborative sites for networking, professional development, and increased access to arts education across Alabama.
