Overview

The Strengthening Communities Grants Program by the Alaska Humanities Forum supports the goal of connecting and understanding among Alaskans by investing in their stories, ideas, and community-building efforts. The program awards grants to nonprofit organizations, state, local, and federally recognized tribal governments. Additionally, it offers Kindling Conversation Stipends, which provide resources and funding to individuals interested in hosting community conversations to foster inclusive spaces, connect people across differences, and facilitate engaging discussions with the help of themed toolkits and support.

  • Must submit application at least 1 week prior to the event
  • Must host the conversation within 3 months of application
  • The conversation must be at least an hour-long
  • Must have at least five participants apart from the facilitator/host
  • Only one stipend per organization or individual per year without prior approval
