The mission of the American Cancer Society is to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support, aiming to ensure everyone has the opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.
The American Cancer Society (ACS) emphasizes research funding across six priority areas to advance its mission: Etiology, Obesity/Healthy Eating and Active Living (HEAL), Screening and Diagnosis, Treatment, Survivorship, and Health Equity Across the Cancer Continuum. The Postdoctoral Fellowships program supports new investigators who are in research training programs to position them for independent careers in cancer research. The fellowship considers candidates who are within four years of receiving their doctoral degree, work at a U.S. academic institution or eligible non-profit, are a U.S. citizen or hold an appropriate visa, and do not have a faculty appointment. Awards are for up to three years with a progressively increasing stipend, alongside an annual allowance for costs such as health insurance and conference attendance, with extra funding in the last year for professional development opportunities.
