The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation is committed to alleviating the suffering caused by mental illness by awarding grants that will lead to advances and breakthroughs in scientific research.
The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation funds new and innovative research in neuroscience and psychiatry with the goal of understanding the causes and developing new treatments for brain and behavior disorders. This includes supporting groundbreaking approaches like optogenetics, deep brain stimulation for treatment-resistant depression, transcranial magnetic stimulation, and rapid-acting antidepressants. The foundation targets a wide range of mental illnesses such as addiction, ADHD, anxiety, autism, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder (BPD), depression, eating disorders, OCD, PTSD, and schizophrenia. Additionally, the Ruane Prize for Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Research, endowed with a $50,000 award, recognizes significant achievements in the understanding and treatment of early-onset brain and behavior disorders, and is presented at an annual awards dinner in NYC.
