CDC works 24/7 to protect America from health, safety and security threats, both foreign and in the U.S.
The grant aims to support the establishment of a National Center for Construction Safety and Health Research and Translation. This center will focus on bringing together trans-disciplinary approaches to conduct impactful applied and intervention research related to construction worker safety, identify hazards and implement control measures, and develop strategic partnerships to enhance prevention and intervention activities. It will serve as a leading entity in translating research findings into practical applications to protect construction workers across the U.S. The center is expected to integrate research, translation of research into practice, best practices, policy guidance, and capacity building in alignment with the NIOSH strategic plan and the National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA) construction research objectives. It aims to leverage diverse scientific resources to address national worker safety and health issues, emphasizing evidence-based solutions for significant safety and health challenges in the construction industry. Collaboration with academic institutions, nonprofit organizations, and occupational safety and health groups is encouraged. Applicants must articulate the occupational health burden within the construction industry they aim to address and demonstrate how their research and outreach activities will mitigate these issues and reduce adverse outcomes. The anticipated impact of the center's work during and beyond the grant period should be clearly described.
