Overview

The Community Development Program aims to support projects that address community challenges and opportunities within the Columbia Basin Trust's region. This grant program encourages residents and local organizations to contribute to the well-being of their communities by focusing on aspects of social, economic, and environmental importance. Projects selected for potential funding must align with the Trust's mission to enhance the area's prosperity, sustainability, and health. Applicants are invited to inquire about their project's eligibility, from which selected projects will be invited to apply.

  • Projects must not mainly benefit the interest of the business
  • Individual project eligibility determined by the Trust at its sole discretion
  • Eligible projects include strategic community projects, capital projects, and community-based research and planning projects
  • Projects excluding obligations of government, such as Official Community Plans, are eligible
  • Preferably, the Trust should not be the sole funder

Projects eligible for other Trust programs except Community Initiatives and Affected Areas Program
Community events, celebrations, festivals, fairs
Political parties, advocacy/lobby groups, or exclusive/discriminative organizations
Projects easing governmental obligations
Travel purposes like conferences or training
Sports teams, tournaments, or equipment
Fundraising initiative donations
Projects mainly benefiting the applicant or membership organization members
Retroactive costs
Core operational expenses
Mechanical repair/replacement, structural renovations expected and budgetable.

Submission

Review Criteria

Projects that exhibit active or completed fundraising initiatives are more favorably considered for funding. Preference is extended to projects that have secured financial support from the applying entity or other contributors.
