Overview

Local Impact Grants offer up to $20,000 for initiatives in vibrant economies, climate resiliency, and justice, equity, and inclusion. These grants support diverse efforts from workforce development in the energy sector, particularly for underrepresented communities, to community revitalization and economic recovery. They aim to fund projects that enhance environmental conservation, disaster preparedness, and projects that address the effects of climate change. Additionally, the grants foster justice and equity through promoting natural environment accessibility in underserved communities, support for just transition to cleaner energy, and initiatives aimed at improving diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Churches or evangelical organizations
Organizations with a substantial purpose of influencing any political, legislative, or regulatory cause
Fraternal, veteran, or labor membership organizations serving only their members
Organizations benefiting Duke Energy Corporation, the Duke Energy Foundation, or their officers or employees from the grant
Nonprofit organizations opposing or intervening in proceedings where Duke Energy is a party, or funding negative advertisements against Duke Energy
Individual K-12 schools or organizations operating within an individual school
Sports teams or events
Religious programs, projects, or activities
Programs aimed at direct cost reduction for Duke Energy's electric or gas services
External fundraising campaigns or events
General operating expenses
Capital investments and improvements
Endowments or other foundations
Multiple grants to the same institution in a calendar year
The purchase or installation of grid-connected solar panel projects
General support for emergency preparedness equipment outside of specific RFP opportunities.
