Overview

The Local Impact Grants by Duke Energy Foundation aim to enhance the quality of life in South Carolina communities by supporting projects with budgets of $20,000 or less. Grant applications are welcomed throughout the year on a rolling basis in three main focus areas: Vibrant Economies (including workforce development, community revitalization, economic recovery, and education in energy and engineering), Climate Resiliency (covering environmental conservation and projects to prepare for and mitigate climate change effects), and Justice, Equity, and Inclusion (focused on access to natural spaces for underserved communities, supporting communities' transition to cleaner energy, and diversity and inclusion initiatives).

Churches or evangelical organizations
Organizations with a substantial purpose of influencing political, legislative, or regulatory causes
Fraternal, veteran, or labor membership organizations serving only their members
Organizations offering benefits to Duke Energy Corporation, the Duke Energy Foundation, or their officers or employees from the grant
Nonprofit organizations opposing or intervening in proceedings where Duke Energy is a party, or that fund negative advertisements against Duke Energy
Individual K-12 schools or organizations operating within an individual school (except at the district level)
Sports teams or events
Religious programs, projects, or activities
Direct cost reduction for electric or natural gas service by Duke Energy
External fundraising campaigns or events
General operating expenses
Capital investments and improvements
Endowments or other foundations
Institutions receiving multiple grants in a calendar year.
