FPRF's mission is to support research that enhances the current uses of rendered animal products, improves rendering processes, and develops new applications. This mainly includes livestock and pet food nutrition, feed safety, sustainability, and the deployment of novel technologies.
The grant program aims to fund research that brings significant advancements in the utilization, safety, and quality of rendered animal products. It focuses on solving critical problems, enhancing product value through chemical or biological means, and nutrition studies to boost their use in animal diets. Priority areas are aquaculture, swine, and poultry nutrition, with an emphasis on filling knowledge gaps important for diet formulators. While the foundation is open to at-large proposals on topics beyond these focal areas, including biosecurity and new uses, a strong justification is necessary for funding consideration. Significant research grants will be allocated particularly to nutrition studies in the specified priority sectors.
