Type of Support

Overview

The grant program focuses on providing financial and technical aid for projects aimed at restoring fish passage and aquatic connectivity, which benefits Federal trust resources and supports ecosystem health. The NFPP supports a variety of projects including dam removals, culvert replacements, floodplain restoration, and the installation of fishways, with funding allocated through annual appropriations separate from those provided by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. It emphasizes projects founded on sound scientific principles that advance the Service's mission and promote biological diversity. Eligible activities under this program range from project planning and feasibility studies to on-the-ground fish passage restoration efforts, with additional support for project outreach and capacity building for managing project-related activities. Applicants are encouraged to coordinate with regional NFPP Coordinators to align their projects with regional priorities and benefit from the extensive technical and planning support available through the program.
