The Foundation for Community Health (FCH) is dedicated to addressing the living conditions that affect health, well-being, and equity. They focus on strategic and equitable resource allocation to support parts of the community with the greatest needs, ensuring all aspects of the community foster the conditions necessary for health, well-being, and equity.

Overview

The Capacity Building Grant aims to enhance the organizational health of nonprofits, defined by their effectiveness, adaptability, and growth capabilities. The grant’s objectives include increasing the stability, effectiveness, and resilience of nonprofits to better meet their mission and community needs, specifically supporting operational infrastructure, scaling, or stabilizing programs and initiatives. Grants up to $30,000 are available through two annual cycles, with flexibility based on requested amounts.

  • Located in a rural 17-town region where northwest Connecticut and the Greater Harlem Valley meet
  • Benefiting residents in the specified geographic area

Organizations not meeting the eligibility criteria or funded by FCH’s Multi-Year Support
Organizations or projects not benefiting residents in the geographic area

Service Clubs or Membership Organizations
Fundraising events, including direct mail campaigns
Debt retirement, operating deficits, after-the-fact support
Faith-based programs with spiritual/theological components
Organizations/projects discriminating based on age, sex, religion, race, color, origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, marital status, military/veterans' status, pregnancy, genetic information.

Review Criteria

Preference will be given to organizations with an annual operating budget of $500,000 or less that fulfill the above criteria.
