The Idaho Commission on the Arts, under the Office of the Governor, aims to enable access to the arts, arts education, and preserve Idahoans’ cultural and artistic heritage. It supports not-for-profit arts organizations to stabilize their operations for reliable public program delivery. The commission promotes arts education among elementary educators, encourages cultural traditions through convening masters of traditional arts, and fosters artful, culturally rich towns beneficial for Idaho’s prosperity.

The Projects for Organizations grant supports public projects and events of nonprofit organizations, informal arts groups through fiscal agents, and arts-in-education projects in schools and school districts. This quarterly grant opportunity focuses on facilitating access to the arts and enhancing arts education, thereby contributing to the cultural and artistic enrichment of communities throughout Idaho.

  • Located and operational in Idaho for at least one year
  • Must have a valid 501(c)(3) Determination Letter with an effective date at least one year prior to the grant application deadline
  • Must provide a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) issued by sam.gov
  • Must compensate professional artists
  • Must have final reports for past Commission grants and awards submitted and approved
  • May receive one quarterly grant in a fiscal year

Organizations receiving Public Programs in the Arts or Entry Track funding
Projects that overlap with current Arts Education Annual Project grants
Projects beginning before the eligible start date or after July 1, 2025
Establishments or contributions to endowments
Fundraising projects not for the arts
Prizes, scholarships, or free tickets
Projects aimed at audience generation or attraction
Offset of debt, payment of fines, penalties, or legal fees
Primarily promotional activities or mass distribution efforts such as CDs duplication
Student exhibitions or performances not documenting an arts education grant
Costs linked to degree or professional certification
Projects or activities already completed or starting too early
Documentation of projects except for arts education
Recreational, vocational, or religious primary focus projects
Membership-restricted activities
Costs for routine attendance at annual conferences
Pageants, festivals, or celebrations not tied to arts or cultural activities
Journalism projects
Historical/academic documentary not showing artistic emphasis
Scholarly/academic works in history, languages, archeology, political science
Lobbying or political activities
Hospitality expenses
Capital expenses for individuals
Writing aimed at youth.
