The council is committed to providing a return on investment to Idahoans by increasing wages, job creation, capital investment, retention of Idaho’s workforce, credential attainment, and customer satisfaction. It aims to develop strategies that serve multiple employers, encourage best practices in talent pipeline development, and support the integration of technology in businesses.

Industry Sector Grants aim to engage employers in creating new training solutions to address Idaho’s workforce challenges and fill skill gaps. The program operates on a non-competitive, first-come, first-served basis, emphasizing:

  • Elevating the economic mobility of Idahoans via training that leads to better wages and job retention.
  • Providing timely aid to businesses with a shift towards developing broader talent pipeline strategies that benefit multiple employers.
  • Encouraging the economic growth by aiding employers in job creation and technology integration, specifically through skill development in their workers.
  • Ensuring a return on investment for Idaho through increased wages, job creation, capital investment, workforce retention, credential attainment, and customer satisfaction.
  • Promoting innovation and replicating best practices in talent development.

  • Must meet current WDTF business requirements for employer grants
  • Authorized to conduct business in Idaho
  • In good standing with the Idaho Secretary of State and/or State Board of Education
  • Training must provide transferrable skills gains
  • Training aims for wage gains and/or promotional opportunities for incumbents
  • Training methods may include classroom delivery, online, or work-based learning
  • Soft-skill training included if embedded within the training
  • Eligible grant uses: Personnel costs, tuition/fees/books/materials, industry mentor/on-the-job trainer costs, training facility costs, equipment and supplies, reasonable travel costs, outreach/marketing efforts, cost of assessments for credentials
  • Administrative costs capped at 10% of the WDTF grant award

Ineligibility

Organizations focused on soft-skill training alone
Organizations where administrative costs exceed 10% of the WDTF grant award.
