To manage, conserve and protect Illinois' natural, recreational and cultural resources, further the public's understanding and appreciation of those resources, and promote the education, science and public safety of Illinois' natural resources for present and future generations.
The Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) grant program aims to provide financial assistance to government agencies, non-profit organizations, and eligible groups or individuals. This support is intended for the development, operation, maintenance, and acquisition of land for OHV parks and trails that are open to the public. Additionally, the program supports efforts to restore areas damaged by unauthorized OHV activities. Funding originates from the State Treasurer's "Off-Highway Vehicle Trails Fund," which is supported by revenues from OHV usage stamps.
