The International Center for Responsible Gaming (ICRG) is a nonprofit organization committed to funding scientific research on gambling disorder. Since its inception in 1996, the ICRG has dedicated itself to the support of high-quality research proposals on this subject. Under the guidance of a Scientific Advisory Board comprised of leading independent scientists with expertise in addiction and related topics, the ICRG employs rigorous standards in its grant-making process to ensure the advancement of knowledge in the field of gambling disorder research.
The ICRG Seed Grant program is designed to support a range of research activities including pilot and feasibility studies, secondary analysis of existing data, small self-contained research projects, and the development of research methodology and new research technology. With the provision of up to $40,000 in direct costs plus 15% for Facilities and Administration costs for a maximum of 12 months, these grants aim to tackle important problems or critical barriers in the field of gambling disorder research. The evaluation criteria for applications focus on the significance, innovation, approach, and research environment of the proposed project, along with the capabilities of the investigators. Additional review items include protection of human subjects from research risk, inclusion of diverse populations in research, animal welfare, and biohazard safety. Budget appropriateness and the period of support relative to the proposed research plan are also considered.
