Type of Support

Overview

The Equity Fund, established in 1996 and becoming permanent in 2000, focuses on strengthening LGBTQ+ organizations in Maine and supporting community-based initiatives. This program offers two types of funding: general support grants for ongoing operational needs and capacity-building for organizations that have previously received project grants, and project grants for new or expanded projects. Projects should have clear start and end dates and objectives that while linked, are distinct from the organization's mission. Specifically, the program supports activities such as staff time for project activities, new equipment or materials, training, and administrative overhead costs (limited to 20% of the total requested). The Equity Fund has particular interest in supporting efforts related to civil rights, social action, advocacy, and healthcare.
