From Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED)

To empower the growth of the Minnesota economy, for everyone.

Type of Support

Overview

The Low Income Worker Training Program targets individuals whose incomes are at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines, offering them the opportunity to gain new skills needed for advancement to higher paying positions and greater economic self-sufficiency. It specifically focuses on short-term training that leads to full-time employment in the growing sectors of Minnesota's economy. The program supports costs associated with job-specific skills training, related materials and supplies, as well as certification or test fees. Up to 10% of the training costs can be allocated towards operating costs directly related to project coordination, including recruitment, screening, referral of participants, and job placement. Grants of up to $200,000 are provided to Minnesota's public, private, or nonprofit entities involved in delivering employment services to low-income individuals, with no matching funds required from recipients.
