The U.S. National Science Foundation is an independent federal agency that supports science and engineering in all 50 states and U.S. territories. The PAARE grant aims to enhance the quality and environment of astronomy and astrophysics research and education. It seeks to do this by fostering the development of long-term partnerships aimed at creating authentic pathways into research, with a particular focus on broadening participation among groups historically underrepresented in astronomy. These partnerships are intended to help institutions offer more opportunities for student and faculty research, thereby increasing recruitment, retention, and success rates while also strengthening research capacity and promoting a diverse, inclusive, and equitable research and education environment.
