The Native American Community Foundation (NACF)’s mission focuses on supporting Native artists and cultural practitioners by nurturing their brilliance and innovation. It aims to leverage the resilience of ancestors, uplift Native communities, and foster education and healing, recognizing the pivotal role of Native artists in contemporary arts, environmental stewardship, and societal equity.
The SHIFT – Transformative Change and Indigenous Arts program is designed to support artist and community-driven projects that address social change through a Native lens. It emphasizes building upon community cultural strengths and resilience, aiming to shift narratives around invisibility, misunderstanding, and misappropriation of Native communities. The program offers a comprehensive suite of services, including financial awards, professional development, mentorship, and opportunities for collaboration and presentation. These services are aimed at enabling Native artists and their partners to develop and execute expansive projects that engage communities, address critical issues, and facilitate broader dialogues at national and global levels.
