Our mission is to promote New York State agriculture and its high-quality and diverse products, foster agricultural environmental stewardship, and safeguard the state’s food supply, land, and livestock to ensure the viability and growth of New York’s agriculture industries.
The Round 18 Farmland Protection Implementation Grants (FPIG) Program is designed to fund the acquisition of perpetual conservation easements on viable agricultural land, specifically targeting farm operations that are vulnerable to negative influences such as trade disputes, increasing debt, changing consumer preferences, and climate change. This grant supports local initiatives aimed at maintaining the economic viability of the agricultural industry and preserving the environmental and landscape values associated with agriculture. These initiatives must align with agricultural and farmland protection plans adopted by counties or municipalities, in accordance with Article 25-AAA of the Agriculture and Markets Law.
