Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP): State

From North Carolina Emergency Management

North Carolina Emergency Management works to enhance the state's resiliency by actively collaborating, communicating and coordinating to prevent, mitigate, respond and recover from disasters.

Type of Support

Overview

The Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) is designed to provide federal funding to eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of terrorist or extremist attacks. This program focuses on physical security enhancements and other security-related activities to protect these organizations. It aims to integrate nonprofit preparedness activities with broader state and local preparedness efforts, enhancing the resilience of communities against threats. The NSGP supports targeted hardening projects like installing security equipment, improving communications, and conducting training for staff. Funding allows eligible nonprofits, depending on their structure and the number of sites, to apply for significant financial support to implement these security measures. This initiative also encourages coordination and collaboration among nonprofits, community representatives, and government agencies in emergency preparedness activities.
