The mission of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) is to provide and protect outstanding natural, scenic, cultural, historic, and recreational sites for the enjoyment and education of present and future generations. OPRD strives to ensure parks are welcoming, effectively deliver services, plan for leadership succession, and celebrate Oregon's heritage for stable future funding and long-view protection of special places.
The ATV Grant Program is dedicated to enhancing off-highway vehicle (OHV) recreation across the state. This program funds a diverse range of initiatives aimed at improving the OHV riding experience. These initiatives include the operation and maintenance of OHV trails and facilities, law enforcement to ensure safe and legal use of OHV areas, emergency medical services to provide care for OHV users in need, planning for future OHV recreational opportunities, development of new or rehabilitation of existing trails and facilities, and acquisition of lands for public OHV recreation. Funding for these grants is sourced from ATV user permit sales and a portion of gasoline tax revenue, focusing on ensuring OHV trails and sites are well-maintained, safe, and accessible to the public.
