The Perspective Fund aims to foster positive social change by funding and partnering with impact-oriented media makers and campaigns. With a vision for a thriving ecosystem of storytellers and cultural strategists equipped with necessary tools, knowledge, and resources, they seek to advance social change through storytelling. They support documentaries, media makers, and organizations using storytelling creatively and strategically for social change, valuing creative independence, risk-taking, community collaboration, and transformation through awareness and connection. Their commitment extends to championing projects that are urgent, complex, and capable of promoting equity, justice, and human rights through critical thinking and adaptability to emergent needs.
The grant program aims to accelerate the development, production, or post-production of documentary projects exploring the human implications of social or policy issues, with the potential to make a positive impact. The program supports a range of costs associated with impact-oriented documentary projects. Grants are awarded based on criteria including exploration of themes related to social, policy, and/or economic issues; notable access, voice, or synthesis on a particular topic or story; command of storytelling craft; commitment to collaborative, equitable, and inclusive filmmaking practices; and potential for impact such as shifting public attitude, culture, practices, and behaviors, supporting grassroots movement for change, and contributing to structural or policy shift.
