The mission of the Petzl Foundation is to support or initiate projects serving the public interest, aiming for a harmonious balance between human activities in mountains and the vertical world and their impact on natural, cultural, and economic environments. It focuses on encouraging education in risk management to prevent accidents, promoting the conservation of ecosystems with difficult or vertical access, and contributing to best practices in the vertical world by gaining new knowledge.
The Petzl Foundation supports projects by non-profit organizations related to outdoor recreational activities such as climbing and mountaineering, or professional work-at-height sectors, including tree care, technical rescue, and difficult access. It aims at encouraging the green transition of mountain areas. The grants fall into one of three mission categories: accident prevention and risk management education, conservation of difficult access ecosystems and the green transition in mountain areas, and discovery of the vertical world and the acquisition of new knowledge.
