The Professional Gardeners’ Trust was established in 2004 to fund training and study for working gardeners in the UK and Ireland. Its mission is to provide gardeners with the opportunity to acquire skills and gain qualifications through part-time courses and work placements, thereby enhancing their careers and benefiting the horticulture profession.
The Professional Gardeners’ Trust focuses on supporting gardeners in their professional development by funding their study in horticultural courses and modules, such as RHS courses. It supports training in various areas including Social and Therapeutic Horticulture, specialist certificates, and management skills. Additionally, the Trust offers financial assistance for gardeners to gain certificates in practical horticulture and the use of horticultural equipment. It also facilitates gardeners to gain experience through work placements in other gardens, providing a comprehensive approach to professional development in horticulture. The training or experience must be applied for and agreed upon, contingent on the applicant finding funding, with applications submitted at least six weeks before the training starts.
