The South Carolina Arts Commission (SCAC) strives to enhance the cultural and artistic landscape of South Carolina by supporting and promoting arts education, community arts development, and artist development. Through grants and other initiatives, the SCAC aims to ensure all residents have access to the arts and to foster an environment where the arts can flourish.
This grant aims to support public library-led projects that foster partnerships between libraries and artists or arts organizations, aiming to heighten community engagement in artistic and cultural activities especially in small and/or rural areas. It underscores the value of inclusivity in cultural and artistic endeavors. By offering financial assistance, the grant facilitates a wide range of public engagement activities across various art forms including dance, music, opera, theatre, visual arts, design arts, crafts, photography, media arts, literature, and more. Activities that can be funded include festivals, exhibitions, workshops, residencies, digital projects, and performances, all with a strong public engagement component. Additionally, the grant enables libraries to offer spaces for communities to experience, interact with, and create art, and supports hiring professional artists, including Certified Teaching Artists for teaching residencies.
