Our mission – to plant and care for trees and the environment by empowering people, building community, and promoting stewardship – is fulfilled through cutting-edge programs and innovative practices.
The broad goal of this grant program is to support disadvantaged local governments in developing current tree inventories and management plans, with a focus on improving canopy in disadvantaged areas. The grants aim to assist communities in paying for these inventories and management plans conducted by certified professionals. A key objective is to have a professional tree inventory that includes detailed information like GPS location, species, size, and condition of trees. Successful completion of an inventory and management plan could lead to further funding for tree planting initiatives. Up to $25,000 in competitive funding is available for this purpose, aiming to facilitate better management and planning for urban canopies through the creation of standardized databases for individual trees within the community.
