The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the nation’s medical research agency — making important discoveries that improve health and save lives.
The NOFO aims to fill research gaps in improving health outcomes for individuals at high risk for or living with HIV, Hepatitis, and substance use disorder in the U.S. It encourages the development and testing of new methods and models for integrating primary care with HIV, Hepatitis, and substance use disorder prevention and treatment services. The grant focuses on creating scalable strategies for integrated care to enhance health outcomes related to HIV, Hepatitis B and C (optional), and substance use disorder. Research must focus on HIV/AIDS and substance use disorder outcomes, including aspects such as care engagement, antiretroviral adherence, viral suppression, and the utilization of screening, prevention services, and referrals to pharmacotherapies. Including Hepatitis in research is optional, but if chosen, the study should explore outcomes like screening, vaccination for Hepatitis B, and treatment for Hepatitis C.
