From US Department of Health & Human Services: National Institutes of Health (NIH)

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the nation’s medical research agency — making important discoveries that improve health and save lives.

Type of Support

Overview

This grant program aims to fund mechanistic investigations into the connections between diet, lipid metabolism, and cancer proliferation and progression. It seeks to support fundamental research that will uncover the molecular mechanisms by which lipid metabolism influences cancer growth and progression. By emphasizing the significant role of lipids in connecting diet and cancer biology, the program intends to merge the historically separate fields of nutrition and molecular metabolism. Additionally, it aims to encourage research and tool development in the challenging field of lipid biochemistry, while facilitating the entry of new investigators by limiting the requirement for unpublished preliminary data to one figure of no more than one-half page.
