New York Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG)

From USDA: Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS)

We deliver conservation solutions so agricultural producers can protect natural resources and feed a growing world.

Type of Support

Overview

The Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) program aims to support the development and implementation of new tools, approaches, practices, and technologies for enhancing natural resource conservation on private lands. It focuses on addressing significant challenges related to water quality, air quality, soil health, and wildlife habitat, while also seeking to improve agricultural operations. The program encompasses three main funding opportunities: National CIG Classic, which focuses on the early-stage development and piloting of conservation innovations on a national scale; State CIG Classic, which supports similar early-stage projects at the state level tailored to address state-specific conservation priorities; and CIG On-Farm Conservation Innovation Trials, aiming to encourage the broader adoption and evaluation of innovative conservation measures through partnerships with agricultural producers, including a focus on soil health improvement practices.
