We are committed to helping improve the economy and quality of life in rural America.
This program offers grants to qualified organizations, facilitating local self-help housing construction projects. It aims to support very-low- and low-income individuals and families in rural areas to construct their own homes through mutual labor. Participants in the program contribute most of the construction labor on each other's homes, benefiting from technical assistance provided by the overseeing organization. Eligible areas for these projects can be determined using the USDA Eligibility Site. The funds may be utilized for providing technical and supervisory assistance to families, aiding other organizations in offering similar assistance, recruiting families, helping them complete loan applications, and conducting related activities to enable their participation in the program.
