The Vermont Arts Council's mission is to support artists and communities in Vermont through the integration of art into public spaces. They aim to enhance community pride and identity, foster social connections, and improve the livability and vibrancy of Vermont communities, downtowns, villages, and neighborhoods by promoting the development and installation of site-specific works of public art that reflect the community's vision, values, and creative spirit.
The Arts Project Grants aim to invigorate Vermont communities by ensuring widespread and equitable access to the arts through supporting nonprofit organizations, municipalities, and schools. Fundable initiatives encompass performances, exhibits, screenings, public art, and festivals with an emphasis on integrating new audiences. Projects that facilitate community involvement in the creation of new artworks, target specific demographic groups to foster inclusiveness, or enhance accessibility for participants with disabilities are highlighted. Priority is given to endeavors that broaden arts and cultural activities access for all Vermonters, particularly those facing barriers due to age, ability, income, race, geography, etc., including projects that focus on creative placemaking and addressing the effects of recent flooding through arts.
