Type of Support

Overview

The Quality Schools Grant Program is designed with the broad goal of increasing student achievement through the alignment and execution of programs and activities with the Alaska Standards. Specifically, this grant supports:

  1. Development and implementation of curriculum and assessments in English/Language Arts and Mathematics.
  2. Activities that advance standards in other student-focused areas such as Science, Arts, Geography, World Languages, History, Government and Citizenship, Health Education, Cultural Awareness, Digital Literacy, Computer Science, Employability Skills, Library/Information Literacy, and Physical Education.
  3. Student interventions including Remediation/Tutoring, ELL (English Language Learner) Programs, and Advising/Counseling.
  4. Standards around Teacher/Administrator collaboration and Professional Development.
  5. Promoting Parent/Family/Community Involvement in the educational process, encouraging the use of community resources to support schools and families, and fostering parent and family engagement.

Grants are allocated based on $16 per adjusted Average Daily Membership as determined by the Foundation Formula, with a requirement that funded activities must demonstrate a clear positive impact on student academic achievements, particularly in reading, writing, and mathematics.
