The Alzheimer’s Association aims to lead the fight against Alzheimer's and all other dementia by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.
The Alzheimer's Association Research Fellowship to Promote Diversity (AARF-D) seeks to support exceptional scientists from underrepresented groups who are in the early stages of their research careers, specifically postdoctoral fellows not yet in independent faculty positions. The grant encourages work across diverse areas of Alzheimer's and dementia research, encompassing basic, translational, clinical, functional, and social-behavioral studies. A particular focus is placed on increasing the pipeline of scientists from diverse backgrounds who employ advanced methods and experimental approaches to address Alzheimer's, other dementias, and health disparities within these populations. The AARF-D aims to foster biomedical research careers among scientists from underrepresented groups by providing funding, opportunities for presenting research at conferences, and research stipends upon successful completion of the award.
