    Overview

The AAP Foundation Fellowships support periodontists in private practice who are interested in pursuing part-time or full-time teaching careers. Each $3,500 Fellowship covers full tuition for the Academy for Academic Leadership (AAL) Institute for Teaching and Learning in the Health Professions Program for Dental School Faculty. This program is designed to enhance competencies in teaching and academic skills within the context of career planning. It aims to provide periodontal post-doctoral faculty with a personal professional strategy for a fulfilling lifelong career in dental education. The program includes 4 days of training at dental schools, supplemented by virtual learning experiences, encompassing large and small group sessions, interactive exercises, case-based and problem-based learning, peer observation, and reflective journals, alongside mentored rotations with dental school faculty.
