The mission of the Marble Fund is to support the advancement and application of geographic information science (GIS) and quantitative methods in geography. By honoring Dr. Duane Marble's contributions, the fund encourages academic excellence and innovation within these domains.
The grant program is aimed at encouraging undergraduate and graduate student participation in AAG Regional Division meetings by supporting their attendance, which can be either in-person or virtual, at AAG Annual Meetings. The awards promote academic engagement and facilitate networking opportunities within the geographic community. Each awardee, including one undergraduate and one graduate student, is granted $1,000 to cover registration and travel expenses to the AAG Annual Meeting.
