The mission of the American Cancer Society is to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support, aiming to ensure everyone has the opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.
The ACS Research Priority Areas grant program is focused on funding research proposals that align with one or more of its six priority areas: Etiology, Obesity/Healthy Eating and Active Living (HEAL), Screening and Diagnosis, Treatment, Survivorship, and Health Equity Across the Cancer Continuum. These grants aim to advance the mission of the American Cancer Society by prioritizing research that addresses crucial questions in cancer care and prevention.
The Arizona Discovery Boost Grants, a partnership between the ACS and the Simone Charitable Foundation, are designed to stimulate cancer research in Arizona, increasing knowledge, collaboration, and progress towards answering cancer's biggest questions. This initiative seeks to expand geographic diversity in cancer research by supporting high-risk, high-reward exploratory projects that can potentially lead to further grant funding and new investigation areas. Eligible applicants include those working at U.S. academic institutions or eligible non-profits in Arizona with an independent faculty appointment. Discovery Boost Grants offer up to $135,000 per year for a maximum of two years, with an allowable budget of up to $297,000 for the project period, plus 10% indirect costs.
