The Golden State Social Opportunities Program (GSSOP) grants awards to eligible graduate students from a University of California or California State University campus or a nonprofit independent institution of higher education. These students must be in programs that prepare them for licensure as Clinical Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, Professional Clinical Counselors, or Clinical Psychologists (PhD or PsyD). The grant provides a scholarship of up to $25,000 per year for a maximum of $50,000, in return for a 24-month service commitment. The service must involve practicing and providing direct patient care in community-based organizations.
