Environment- Transforming Development Finance Grants

Mott aims to improve transparency, accountability, and social and environmental standards at the international finance institutions that fund major energy and infrastructure projects. This involves working with the financial and environmental sectors globally to ensure projects protect the environment, deliver sustained benefits to communities, and respect the needs of nearby residents. The focus includes influencing the investment patterns of emerging economies, particularly those of Brazil and China.

Type of Support

Overview

The grant program, Transforming Development Finance, seeks to shape international investment policies for energy and infrastructure projects to ensure they benefit people and the environment in developing nations. It supports:

  • Securing Infrastructure and Energy for a Sustainable Future: Funding aims at investments in infrastructure and energy that promote environmental sustainability and local economic opportunities. Grants are given to organizations monitoring investments and building capacity for local project monitoring, with a focus on influencing policies and standards in emerging economies, especially Brazil and China.
  • Promoting Sustainable Regional Development and Integration: This initiative supports public investments contributing to sustainable local development, particularly in South America. Grants are awarded to networks and organizations monitoring international investment strategies, those building constituencies for sustainable strategies, and promoting transparency and accountability at regional development banks.
