The Community Foundation was established to serve Charlottesville and nearby counties with the aim of spurring positive change. It focuses on engaging with local communities, nonprofits, and various organizations to enhance philanthropy and elevate the quality of life in the region. The foundation prioritizes strong community relationships, collaborative problem-solving, and inclusive engagement. It endeavors to ensure equitable access to its resources and prioritizes the needs of those most affected by societal problems.
The Sudden and Urgent Needs (SUN) Grant program is designed to offer quick and flexible support for groups responding to temporary, critical situations that require an immediate response. The program prioritizes proposals that align with its goals, demonstrate a significant impact on addressing inequities or needs in the community, showcase the applicant's capacity to lead the proposed work, involve power building/sharing with those most affected by the issue, and present a sensible budget for the planned activities and outcomes. The SUN grant can provide funding of up to $10,000 for qualifying projects.
