Western Reserve Health Foundation Grants

From Community Foundation Of Mahoning Valley

The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley helps philanthropists support the causes closest to their heart while connecting local residents to the resources they need for a better quality of life.

Type of Support

Overview

The grant program by the Western Reserve Health Foundation focuses on innovative projects that align with the 2023-2025 Mahoning County Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). Key areas of interest include mental health and substance abuse; access to care; and community conditions and safety, aiming to leverage community coalitions, enhance crisis intervention, improve access to care through culturally congruent services and partnerships, and enrich community safety and conditions through housing, transit, greenspace, and food access improvements. The foundation also supports cancer patient needs and values projects led by or involving individuals with direct experience or personal knowledge of the issues being addressed. Successful projects are expected to define and evaluate success through both qualitative and quantitative means, address underlying social and economic challenges, and aim for policy, system, and environmental changes to facilitate healthy options for all residents equitably. Projects are encouraged to leverage additional public and private funding sources.
