Type of Support

Overview

The Federal Clean Vessel Act (CVA) grant program offers financial assistance to support the development and maintenance of Marine Sewage Disposal Facilities (MSDFs) at marinas. It caters to a range of applicants including public or private marine facility owners/operators in need of new or upgraded MSDFs, and municipal or non-profit entities interested in operating a pumpout boat. The program reimburses up to 75% of the cost for approved projects. The ultimate goal is to increase the availability and use of MSDFs to prevent the discharge of untreated or poorly treated sewage into Long Island Sound and its harbors, thus improving water quality. Priority may be given to projects within targeted harbors if demand exceeds available funding. Grant recipients are required to provide public access to the MSDF at no cost and ensure compliance with state regulatory programs.
