Connecticut Humanities champions the enduring value of public humanities in our lives and civil society. It aims to inspire storytelling, lifelong learning, informed public dialogue, and civic engagement through grant funding and capacity building, ensuring that the public humanities strengthen communities and enhance the quality of life for all Connecticut's residents.
The Planning Grants, offering up to $25,000, are designed to support the research, planning, and development of humanities projects. These projects may include exhibitions, public programs, and interpretive digital media. The grant aids in conducting scholarly research, gathering stakeholder feedback, and making necessary preparations for project implementation. While not a prerequisite for Implementation Grants, Planning Grants aim to provide a solid foundation for project realization, requiring demonstration of significant humanities scholarship and content. Projects exploring the intersection of the humanities with arts or STEM are also considered for funding.
