The mission of the Society for Women Environmental Professionals (SWEP-CT) is to encourage and promote the leadership, achievement, and professional and personal development of women in the environmental professions. The organization provides an informal setting for women to meet, share technical information and work experiences, discuss unique issues affecting women in environmental professions, and develop working relationships across private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Additionally, SWEP-CT aims to educate its members on new developments and trends in the environmental field, strengthen their skills by addressing various substantive topics, including environmental issues, business relationships, leadership roles, mentoring, and encourage public service in the environmental domain.
The Connecticut Society for Women Environmental Professionals Grant Program provides funding for local projects in Connecticut that benefit the environment. The program focuses on the environmental benefits of proposed projects, judged comparatively among applications. These "environmental benefits" range broadly, with successful applications in the past including activities like property clean-ups and environmental education. The overarching goal is to support projects that have a positive impact on the environment through a range of actionable initiatives.
