The Duke Energy Foundation is dedicated to building vibrant local economies, enhancing climate resiliency, and promoting justice, equity, and inclusion. It aims to support workforce development, economic recovery, education, environmental conservation, and diversity initiatives.

Overview

The Local Impact Grants program supports projects up to $20,000 in the areas of vibrant economies, climate resiliency, and justice, equity, and inclusion. The grants are available year-round. Key focuses include workforce development in the energy economy for underrepresented populations, community revitalization, economic recovery, education in energy and engineering, land conservation, clean water, climate change mitigation and preparedness, natural disaster response, access to green spaces in underserved communities, support for the just transition to cleaner energy, and diversity and inclusion initiatives aimed at upward mobility.

Churches or evangelical organizations
Organizations with a purpose of influencing political, legislative, or regulatory causes
Fraternal, veteran, or labor organizations serving only their members
Organizations offering benefits to Duke Energy Corporation, the Duke Energy Foundation, or their officers or employees from the grant
Nonprofit organizations opposing or intervening in proceedings involving Duke Energy, or funding negative advertisements against Duke Energy
Individual K-12 schools or those operating within one
Sports teams or events
Religious programs, projects, or activities
Direct cost reduction for electric or natural gas service by Duke Energy
External fundraising campaigns or events
General operating expenses
Capital investments and improvements
Endowments or other foundations
Same institution receiving multiple grants in a year.
