EKCT was founded to formalize Ernest and his family's dedication to charitable activities, with a focus on conservation of wildlife and the natural environment, encouragement of youth enterprise and outdoor activity. These ideals, along with supporting their home county of Sussex, remain core to their mission.
The Ernest Kleinwort Charitable Trust (EKCT) offers grants to organizations within Sussex or those that align with EKCT’s key areas of interest: care of the elderly, disability, general welfare, hospices, youth, and wildlife & environmental conservation. Additionally, EKCT has allocated extra funding to assist Sussex charities during Winter 2022-23 to cope with rising costs of living.
