The grant program focuses on supporting independent medical education for healthcare professionals, provided by various educational providers like community hospitals, academic centers, and medical education companies. Genentech/Roche is interested in funding projects in specific disease states, including Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Asthma, Chronic Urticaria, COVID-19, Diabetic Macular Edema, Diabetic Retinopathy, Food Allergy, Hemophilia, Hematologic Malignancy (with a focus on Lymphoma, Diffuse Large B-Cell, Follicular, Non-Hodgkins), Influenza, Lung Cancer (Non-Small Cell ALK Positive), Lupus, Macular Edema, Myasthenia Gravis, Neuromyelitis Optica, Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria, Retinal Vein Occlusion, and Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

For developing clinical practice guidelines
Supporting a religious purpose
Promoting a Genentech or Roche product or influencing formulary decisions
Covering travel, lodging, or registration expenses for non-faculty healthcare professionals to educational programs (with exceptions)
Operating expenses not directly related to the educational activity
Supporting promotional exhibits or displays
Stand-alone entertainment or social events
Staff/professional development
Advertising space
Applicants who failed to reconcile past grants or return unused funds
Programs in unsuitable locations or schedules that detract from the educational purpose
Requests with unacceptable budget items like partner funding, disproportionate faculty expenses, gifts/prizes, faculty dinners unrelated to content, excessive honoraria or costs
In disease states like Alzheimer's, Basal Cell Carcinoma, Breast Cancers, Cystic Fibrosis, Genitourinary Cancers (Renal, Prostate, Bladder), Gynecological Cancers (Cervical, Endometrial, Ovarian), Head & Neck Cancers, Huntington's Disease, Lung Cancer (Multiple Subtypes), Melanoma, NTRK Fusion Cancers, Pan-Tumor, Stroke, Thyroid Cancer RET Altered.
