The mission of the Gordon Research Conferences (GRC) is to provide an international platform for presenting and discussing pioneering research in the biological, chemical, and physical sciences, and their related technologies. GRC aims to foster informal communities of experts, promote pre-publication research discussions at the forefront of various fields, and facilitate networking among scientists.
The Carl Storm Underrepresented Minority Fellowship, established by the GRC Board of Trustees, aims to honor Carl Storm's dedication to increasing diversity at GRC conferences by providing financial aid to underrepresented minority (URM) graduate students, postdocs, faculty, and scientists attending their first GRC. This opportunity allows applicants to engage with leaders who could become potential mentors and supports the GRC's guiding principle of creating forums by and for scientists to discuss cutting-edge research in a wide range of scientific fields. The fellowship emphasizes the importance of early application due to its limited support and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Acceptance to a conference is a prerequisite for final fellowship approval, ensuring that fellowship applications do not influence conference participation decisions.
