Humanities North Dakota, established in 1973, is a non-profit organization committed to providing accessible and engaging lifelong learning opportunities for out-of-school adults. Its mission is to support individuals in experiencing the benefits of lifelong learning, emphasizing the enrichment and development that humanities offer.
The grant program funded by Humanities North Dakota supports projects that bring historical, cultural, or ethical perspectives to contemporary topics and issues relevant to communities. These projects aim to: engage participants in critical thinking about fundamental questions of value, purpose, and meaning; promote better understanding of ourselves and others across time; conduct inquiries in an open, informed manner that provides multiple viewpoints; involve partnerships with community organizations, educational/cultural institutions, and humanities scholars or experts; and focus on addressing critical issues facing democracy. The Quick Grants are designed to fund direct program costs for smaller-scale humanities projects, with a restriction of no more than two quick grants being awarded to any grantee per year.
