Since its inception in 1968, the Louisiana Sea Grant College Program, based at Louisiana State University and part of the National Sea Grant College Program network, has been dedicated to the stewardship of Louisiana's coastal resources. Its mission encompasses research, education, outreach, extension, law and policy, communications, and management to address marine and coastal challenges. Championing diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and accessibility (DEIJA), Louisiana Sea Grant aims to recruit, retain, and prepare a diverse workforce while serving the varied populations of coastal communities.
The grant program offered by the Louisiana Sea Grant College Program is designed to support competitive research opportunities. It encourages faculty from diverse backgrounds to apply, aligning with its goals of fostering stewardship of coastal resources through integrated approaches including research, education, outreach, and policy development. The program emphasizes building inclusive research, extension, communication, and education programs that cater to individuals with diverse backgrounds, circumstances, and perspectives. This initiative is part of the program's broader mission to address marine and coastal challenges in partnership with the National Sea Grant network, striving for excellence in DEIJA practices throughout its operations.
